I worked with Val for many years at Ashford Telephone exchange and always found her cheerful, very helpful and efficient with her work. She was great company at social functions and latterly at our “get togethers” at the William Harvey public house.
I am sure she will be missed by her friends and family.

I remember Val when after working in the office with Brian, the Exchange Maintenance Manager, she came to work with us, the Network Construction Managers, up on the top floor of Ashford TE in what used to be the Manual Room. Val was, as Bill says, very efficient and hard working allied to the fact that she didn’t mind making tea and was always in good humour. Amazing really as along with the other CAs she had a lot to put up with from sharing an office with five managers. So many years have passed now since the early 90s but I do recall being closely involved with Val’s retirement ‘do’ where I was privileged to say a few words in appreciation of her service and hard work. I believe the event was videoed by a family member. I would like to add my sympathy and condolences to Val’s family. Such a shame that a lovely lady’s life ended in such a sad way.
